De Reesluis (Bridge 64 The Roe Lock)
The bridge is named after the deer as the southern part of the Jordaan there were many tanners who processed deer hides. The name of the nearby Looiersgracht also refers to this tanning activity. It is a continuation of Reestraat over the Prinsengracht in the city centre canal ring ofAmsterdam. The Reestraat however does not continue through on the other side of the bridge as the allotment style pattern of the Jordaan located on the other side of the Prinsengracht does not match that of the canal belt as can be seen on the next post showing the location.
