De Lucas Jansz Sinckbrug – Bridge 36 | History and information

De Lucas Jansz Sinckbrug Bridge 36 information and history
The bridge is named after the surveyor Lucas Jansz Sinck. He was responsible for the preparation and implementation of the third expansion of the canal belt together with Hendrick Jacobsz. Staets, Frans Oetgens and Hendrick de Keyser. They also got bridges named after them over the Herengracht ( ), Prinsengracht ( ), and Achtergracht ( ) respectively at the point of intersection with the Amstel. Bridge 36 had to be regularly adapted to the requirements of modern traffic, in particular due to the increased weight and wheel pressure of the vehicles. It was thoroughly renovated in 1977 with renewal of the foundation and arch construction.
