Brug 43 map and location
Like most other bridges in Amsterdam’s 17th-century Canal Ring which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010, there has been a bridge here for centuries. City architect Daniël Stalpaert already drew a bridge here on the design part of his map of 1662 although like #bridge41 and #bridge42 the district still had to be built around them at that time. Frederick de Wits map from 1688 however showed almost complete buildings along with the bridges.
